Microsoft’s Windows 7 advertisements have certainly got people talking. Now they are stepping up another gear and aiming towards the social networking platform that is “Twitter”. On the 22nd of September, Microsoft announced on their Experience Blog that they were aiming to get 77,777 followers on Twitter for their profile MSWindows.
Microsoft giving away prizes on their twitter page has been around for a while ( even if the prize was just for 7 free pizzas ) but now they are giving away 1 free copy of Windows 7 to one of their original 42,777 followers. And from now, every 2000 additional followers they get, another follower will get a free copy of Windows 7 after the 22nd October release date
For those good at math, the more people we get to join, the more chances you (as a follower) have of winning a copy of Windows 7. All followers of @MSWindows are eligible, so those who have been loyal followers since the beginning are still in the running. Winners will receive their copy of Windows 7 they won after the Oct. 22 launch date.
The prizes Microsoft have given away so far include:
- 7 piping hot pizzas delivered right to followers’ doors ( Yes they come with a big “7″ on them! )
- 7 pounds of candy to satisfy followers’ penchants for sugar
- $7.77 in shiny Andrew Jackson dollars and pennies
- 7 Microsoft keyboards and mice (PC mice, not live mice, that’d get messy)
- @WindowsGamer gave away some signed Warhammer art books
- 2 gaming keyboards from @WindowsGamer
- 7 sodas from the stash on Microsoft’s Redmond campus ( Bing Soda! )
They certainly are giving away some intriguing and different prizes and the MS team promises even more is to come
When the magical number of 77,777 is reached, the Windows Outreach Team has some great (and super-secret) prizes to hand out.
Microsoft is really doing their best to promote Windows 7 and it has become one of the top ten search terms on Google over the past few months so they must be doing something right. Windows 7 isn’t even out and already millions of people are talking about it, there doing much better job then they did with Windows Vista thats for sure and they have an equally good product to back it up.
Have any of you guys been lucky enough to win anything from MSWindows on Twitter? What do you think of Microsoft’s advertising campaign? Let us know in the comments.
